Pierre Amoyal

Pierre Amoyal was only twelve years old when he completed his studies at the Paris Conservatory with a First Prize. The prodigy then left for Los Angeles to study with the legendary Jascha Heifetz. At the age of 22, he made his European debut with the late Sir Georg Solti and the Orchestre de Paris, followed by appearances in all of the major European capitals, as well as in the United States, Canada, Mexico, South America and in the Far East. Over the last three decades he has worked with the world's most important conductors.

In addition to a rich performing career, Mr. Amoyal dedicates a significant portion of his schedule to teaching. He was the youngest musician ever to be nominated as a professor at the Paris Conservatory. Now living in Switzerland, Mr. Amoyal teaches at the Lausanne Conservatory. He, along with pianist Bruno Canino, founded a novel annual music academy held during the summers in Lausanne dedicated to repertoire for violin with piano.

Pierre Amoyal plays the famous 1717 "Kochanski" Stradivarius, regarded as one of the most beautiful violins produced by Stradivarius. Mr. Amoyal has served on numerous international competition juries including the 1994 and 1998 International Violin Competition of Indianapolis and, most recently, the Queen Elisabeth and Sibelius Competitions.
